Grasmere is a village in the centre of the Lake District and is a popular tourist destination throughout the year. Sitting at the foot of some of the most beautiful fells in the lake district, Grasmere has many shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants which is ideal when staying in a self catering holiday cottage.

As well as Grasmere lake, you also have a small lake minutes away from the town called Grasmere Water. This mini lake often has beautiful reflections of Loughrigg fell and is a great spot for a picnic and whilst not as commercial as Lake Windermere, there is still a very good selection of family watersports such as kayaking and sailing. On the western side of the lake there is a footpath up to Loughrigg Terrace and its huge cave - definitely not to be missed.
